Potential customers: end users, engineering.

Why is it necessary? The corrosion protection and protective coatings industry advances technologically by launching new products, processes or techniques which have great potential for their projects. With our latest facilities located in Spain, we can meet a wide spectrum of customer needs without outsourcing these services internationally.

Benefits: Optimiza has laboratory equipment that allow us to analyse the behaviour of the parameters in new products, techniques, and novelties in the sector. Adapting these technologies to your specific projects can generate relevant savings in time and money in the development of your projects.

Behaviour testing of coatings

Potential customers: end users.

Why is it necessary? Two equal civil or industrial assets can be exposed to different environmental aggressiveness which determines the need for corrosion protection. In addition, two identical coatings do not behave in the same way depending on the environment in which they are placed. Therefore, it is necessary to study which type of coating best suits to the durability expectations of the asset based on the environmental conditions to which it will be exposed.

Benefits: by exposing coating samples to a variety of environmental conditions in our laboratory, we can objectively determine which coating system will be the best solution for your particular asset or project. We carry out a reliable qualitative and quantitative analysis that will scientifically support each and every one of our recommendations, thus guaranteeing the prolongation of the performance and service life of the protective system, avoiding loss of production shutdowns and over-cost maintenance.

Characterization and composition of materials

Potential customers: end users, engineering.

Why is it necessary? The characterization and composition of materials and failures in the coating application has several uses such as the identification of materials detected in certain areas, the investigation of corrosion or coating failures, the selection of materials according to the specific conditions of the assets or even the identification of chemical components whose exposure represents a safety risk to workers.

Benefits: the information provided by this type of analysis will allow you to make better decisions, which in many cases will mean relevant savings in time and money, as well as the prevention of risks that endanger the health of the workers on a construction site.

Abrasive testing

Potential customers: coating applicators, end users.

Why is it necessary? The characteristics of the abrasive such as its angular or spherical shape, granulometry, hardness, and density as well as the thickness and composition of the substrate have a direct impact on the production, cleaning quality and surface profile. The aspects mentioned above, among others, will determine the optimal choice of abrasive.

Benefits: cost reduction in blasting operations by avoiding unnecessary waste of time and products as a result of choosing a non-optimal abrasive to achieve the specified degree of cleaning and roughness. Reduced risk of premature failure during the coating service life and reduced environmental impact.

Coating failure analysis

Potential customers: end users, owners, shipyards, coating applicators.

Why is it necessary? It is considered that a coating may fail naturally (its service life is ended) or prematurely, this is when defects are detected in the film or system well before expected, either after commissioning or upon contact with its specific environment. The causes of this type of failures can be different due to the complexity that the setting up of a coating system implies.

Benefits: we analyse the coating systems layer by layer using a microscopy of the samples. Later on, we identify the composition of each layer determining the characteristic of every coating applied, being able to figure out the origin of the failure and, even better, to advise you on how to prevent it from happening again, avoiding further costs arising from its repair.
